Greetings and shalom! Thank you so much for your continuing love and prayers for this one-of-a-kind outreach. I want to bring you up to date on what’s been happening for the last several months. As many of you know, we started and ended our Starfleet Campaign, and God richly blessed all of our efforts to see Jew and Gentile come to Messiah.

The first week, we were in a predominantly Jewish area and only talked and witnessed to Orthodox Jews. This is something quite different from other ministries that reach out to the Jewish people. God has given us much favor in terms of reaching out to Orthodox Jewish people. We didn’t have tracts or t-shirts. We merely stopped them coming from synagogue and asked, “Do you believe in a Mashiach? And is your name in God’s Book of Life?”

This opened the dialogue allowing us to talk about Jesus. One young man, named Moishe, with whom I had the privilege of interacting, was really interested in the claims of Christ and said he had never read the New Testament. He gave me his phone number and said to me, “If my family knew that I was talking about Jesus, they would disown me.” Please pray for our continued efforts to reach Moishe and other Orthodox Jews on a regular basis. There are many other stories from team members that space does not permit me to share with you. Our time in Detroit was really exciting. Perhaps the highlight was when Roman and Nicole went into a house and led an entire family to Christ. We were witnessing to people on the street, drug addicts, gang bangers and prostitutes. Our time in Pontiac was limited. We spent three hours and more than 12 people responded to the Gospel. One thing that stood out for me was watching Donna go up the steps of homes while limping and talking to people in spite of a lot of pain. (He who finds a wife finds a good thing!)

We were working with churches in the area so they could do the follow-up with people who were saved or just interested. Here’s one pastor’s response:

Praise our Lord and Savior!

We at Anchor of Love had a wonderful time with all of you last weekend. You and your team of Christian warriors inspired motivated and demonstrated true obedience to the Great Commission from our Lord Jesus Christ.

We have followed up with many of the souls that were saved that morning. Some have come for prayer, and others have joined us for fellowship and worship. Others have come for deliverance from drugs, alcohol, sexual sins and other demonized conditions and were made free and whole!

Words can’t express my appreciation for Shalom Ministry coming out to help grow our church and community both physically and spiritually. May the Lord of Lords and King of Kings reward you accordingly.
Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior be glory and majesty dominion and power both now and ever. Amen”

Many of the people we witnessed to will be attending our new Bible study, which will be held every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at our ministry office, 33634 West Eight Mile Road, Farmington Hills. Call 248-312-8277.

Donna and I have also been visiting area churches, sharing our ministry and meeting and greeting new pastors. We’re out every Saturday and Sunday sharing the ministry. This is part of our ongoing effort to build relationships with key pastors in the community.

I personally want to invite our local supporters to come out to Orchard Hills Baptist Church in Novi on Sunday, September 16, at the 11 a.m. service, where I’ll be speaking. This will be a special service. Not only are we providing the message, but we’re also doing the Sunday school, which starts at 9:45 a.m., and providing the music. The address is 23455 Novi Rd. Novi Mi.48375 (248 349 5665)

God is really stretching our ministry. We’re impacting Jews and Gentiles alike. But I must share with you that we are in dire need of funds. Giving has fallen significantly, and as of this email, I am not able to draw a salary from the ministry. This is one area where Satan constantly hinders our efforts. Many of our supporters have stopped giving. We haven’t heard from other supporters in some time. We ask that you pray fervently that the stronghold would be brought down and resources loosened for us to continue his outreach.

Finally, we’re asking for prayer for the Jhan Moskowitz family. Jhan was called home September 5. He was a dear friend to this ministry and was our keynote speaker at several of our banquets. We will miss him and his wisdom. Please pray for his family and those who were especially close to him.

Continue to pray for our unsaved Jewish friends, especially Art and Sandy, Barry, the Cohen family, Paula, Coby, Moe and Diana, and Gary and Paula.

Until the nets are full,

John and Donna
