March 2010 Ministry Newsletter

Posted by hjdenson on March 18, 2010

Thank you for your ongoing prayers and financial support. We are excited about what God is doing with Shalom Ministry and eager to share with you some of the ministry activities that we are planning this spring.

Three Scheduled Christ in the Passover Presentations This Month

Passover is one of the most meaningful holidays of the Jewish calendar. Please join us in this wonderful celebration and learn how God’s amazing plan of salvation is revealed within the symbols of the Passover Seder. For times and locations please call: (248) 545-8800 ext 28

Other Ministry Events Planned

  • March 22-May 10, 2010 – I will be teaching a course on the Hebrew alphabet, culture and customs at Destiny School of Ministry in Roseville on Monday evenings. For details, call the school at (586) 773-6568.
  • March 27 Saturday – Congregation Shema Yisrael Bet will host a Family and Friends Day at 11 a.m. Come for worship, fellowship and a great kosher meal following the service. Congregation Shema Yisrael Bet meets every Saturday morning in the facilities of the Church of the Nativity, 9435 Henry Ruff Road, Livonia.
  • April 18 – We will make our annual tour of the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills. Join us for this inspiring exploration of the nation’s first freestanding Holocaust Memorial and its vivid exhibits depicting Jewish life and events leading up to the Shoah. Following the tour, we will have the opportunity to meet and talk with a Holocaust survivor, who will offer personal insights about the Holocaust experience. Currently, Donna is hard at work preparing a special gift of artwork that she will present to the center at the conclusion of our visit.

Donna’s Art and Other Ministry Updates

Speaking of art, Donna and I have been visiting the Jewish Community Center in West Bloomfield, and the Judaica shop has offered to promote and display some of Donna’s artwork. All the while, we have been witnessing to the owner; and through him, we’ve met several other Jewish art dealers with whom we’ve been able to share our faith. I am personally amazed at how God has given us these Jewish contacts simply through Donna’s art!

Other news: Our new board members are up to the challenge of leading the ministry, and they are expanding our efforts to reach out with the Gospel to all people, beginning with the Jew first.

We are working on updating our website, going on U-tube and Facebook, and developing our DVDs; and I’m personally in the process of putting together two books, including my autobiography and a book describing little-known interactions between blacks and Jews throughout history.

Thank You For Your Prayers

Finally, I want to extend our personal thanks for your prayers for Donna’s mother, whose condition is unchanged. Please continue to hold her in your prayers that the Lord will minister tenderly to her until He takes her home.

Please continue to pray for the salvation of our Jewish friends: Gary and his family, Mrs. Cohen, Paula (a Holocaust survivor), Moe and Diana, Michelle, Alana, Coby, Rebecca and Ross, Barry, Jonathan, Liz (who grieves the death of her son) and Bella. Please agree with us in fervent prayer for the Holy Spirit‘s intervention in their lives and that they will receive Messiah as Savior and Lord, regardless of what it takes.

We are also requesting prayer for housing for our family, that God will provide guidance and finances as we seek to purchase a home.

Until the nets are full,

Rev. John and Donna Denson
